Eighth Book
Over the years, I've read the books in this series several times (with the exception of the last book in the series - which I highly recommend skipping). I just recently started rereading the series again, and discovered I had misplaced this particular book. So instead of turning my house inside and out trying to find it (if Koko was here I bet he could locate it), I instead purchased the Kindle edition to read. I really wish I had the money to update all the books in this set to Kindle editions. To tell a bit about the book (assuming that you've read the previous books in the series), this book chronicles the time when the mansion is being rebuilt into a theater. Jim and the cats are still living in the old carriage house. The new newspaper is issuing it's first edition, and gets it's name. Some people are murdered and the police are pretty sure they know who did it. But Koko knows better. Not the best book in the series, but not the worst either (did I mention not to read the last book in the series). To me, these books are the literarily equivalent of a "Murder She Wrote" episode. Personally, with the number of people that tend to get murdered in the vicinity of Jim and his psychic cat - I would be scared for my life to live anywhere near him. But the stories are entertaining and the characters are usually interesting. I would recommend reading the books in order.
Always something new.
It was fun to read this set up as a play. I miss Koko's dictionary game but it seems he is finding other ways to leave clues for Qwill. Once again they have caught the real killers. Don't you just love the Siamese.
The cat who series
it is good to reservists series in order. The characters are intertwined with the adventures of the Siamese. Each tale brings more depth to a place that would be best to visit. If it were to be real.
The Cat Who Sniffed Glue...
This is book #8 in "The Cat Who..." series by Lillian Jackson Braun. If you read my reviews you may notice #7 is missing. That's because "The Cat Who Knew Shakespeare (#7) is not available on Kindle yet. (Kindle customer service says it's in the works). In "The Cat Who Sniffed Glue" Qwill is living in a town named Pickax as part of the requirement of his inheritance. His detective cat Koko starts showing an interest in glue, but it's just to help his owner pick up clues to the murder of a banker's son and his wife. It looks like a robbery gone bad, but Koko the Siamese knows better. Yet another great book from the series!
I Just enjoy the funny writing of these books
I answered some violence, and sex but it's so mild it's almost not there. I Just enjoy the funny writing of these books. I seen them around for a while and thought I might try them. I'm now in the process of starting at the beginning and reading them all to meet the characters. Quick easy reads, the mysteries are ok but the characters are the best things about these book.
Twins
I always like it when who did it isn't revealed until almost the end. I didn't have a clue as to who did it or anytime the end.
Not Shakespeare, but a fun readj.
When I was first introduced to these books, I found the premise exceedingly silly, but then found myself intrigued by the story and couldn't put it down. I then went back and started with book 1 and am now on book 9, having enjoyed them all and looking forward to the next ones. Extremely light reading and a crazy host of characters, but good escapist fun. Purrrrfect for the beach!
Love this series
I love all The Cat Who books. I miss Lilian Jackson Braun so much. RIP. I wish someone would finish her last book she was writing. I wish someone would write some more books of Qwill, KoKo and YumYum. They wouldn't be as good but at least the stories could continue.
Better than expected
This story was much better than I expected. I read some scathing reviews but found that if you like the characters, the story will not disappoint. The wrap up leaves a bit too be desired but it's still a fun read.
Fun book
These books are the most entertaining books I have read in a long time.
